Uhmm que raro que no coloco fedora entre las opciones, me parece una distro muy sencilla de usar, fue la primera distro que probe, actualmente estoy con ubuntu 9.04, porque es la que compatibilidad con hardware tiene, me reconoció hasta un conversor dual

Valdra la pena probar otras distros ? solo he usado ubuntu (que es derivada de debian), pero he probado mandriva, knoppix, puppy y otros, no he quedado muy conforme que digamos ... actualmente hay un proyecto llamado ubuntu studio que me llama mucho la atencion ya que esta dedicada mas a personas q tengan relacion con la musica , el diseño grafico, 3d o edicion de video, quiza sea el proximo que instale o quiza fedora me han hablado muy bien de esa distro

Bueno quien mas se aguanta con linux, posteen sus experiencias con las distros actuales o poco conocidas, se les agradece

Prueba kubuntu, que es ubuntu pero con entorno kde, otra distro muy buena es opensuse, ademas de fedora que es la única que me ha reconocida la tarjeta de vídeo, una ati radeon 9250, actualmente tengo ubuntu 9.04 con xp, si te gusta ubuntu pero te parece muy simplona prueba ubuntu ultimate edition que es como una version enchulada de ubuntu

De las distros poco conocidas he probado trisquel , el orgullo argentino ututo y gnewsense que esta basada en ubuntu y debian, trisquel y gnewsense están aprobadas por la FSF

gracias cisne no conocia esas , kubuntu la probe y tambien fluxbuntu, para serte sincero me gusta la simplicidad de gnome aunque no te miento kde 4 se ve espectacular...

Ando buscando una distro facil de usar pero potente para tenerla como so principal y darle usos generales de internet y office. Necesito que sea en español asi es mas facil que la gente en mi casa se acostumbre a lo que viene

Entonces ubuntu y mandriva son para ti, de las dos te recomiendo ubuntu, es muy fácil de usar, openoffice es igual office solo cambia una que otra cosa pero en general es lo mismo, la mayoría por no decir todas las distribuciones de la actualidad vienen en español, en el caso de ubuntu es recomendable instalar conectado a Internet ya que se descargaran los paquetes de idiomas necesarios para colocar todo el sistema operativo en español

Bueno Pondré ubuntu sin dudarlo, aunque a muchos linuxeros entusiastas no les guste mucho, dicen que es "otro windows" cuando en realidad es un Hijo de Debian

Mandriva lo use pero no me acostumbre a su interfaz, kde es muy depinga pero compleja de entender, si ya te acostumbraste a gnome como yo. Aunque se que puedes ponerle las 2 o la que tu quieras. Tampoco me gustaron los paquetes .rpg, prefiero los .deb (no tengo razones tecnicas solo es gusto personal :-] )

En cuanto a la facilidad de uso y compatibilidad, a ubuntu no le veo competidor (en el terreno linux)

Pronto formateo de nuevo y organizo mejor las particiones ahorita tengo un arroz con mango

yo recomiendo full mandriva, su look es envidiable y acepta ati nvidia, y viene listo para reproducir audio/video, aunque por algun motivo desde hace tiempo no me reconoce mis particiones y mas nunca lo volvi a usar,

ubuntu es bueno pero viene muy desnudo a mi parecer, es decir toca pasar horas bajando vainas para que medio sea usable, y si no tiens internet te jo

Tanto así tampoco, con ejecutar el ubuntu-restricted-extras se instalara lo mas utilizado, y si sin Internet estas frito, pero igual la sigo usando es la que me ha reconocido todo sin hacer nada y con aceleración 3d activada

Hey gracias por el Link DoctorKiller Me salio Fedora y OpenSUSE en 100%, a mi me gusta Ubuntu pero la ultima distro no me corre bien xq mi pc es de Museo Jjejeje pero me gusta los programas actualizados

Yo tengo tiempo usando ubuntu (User 17823) desde la version 6.04 y debo decir que la 10.10 no tiene nada que envidiarle a Windows, lo unico sería poder correr juegos buenos, algo que me llamo poderosamente la atención es el uso de recursos, lo tengo corriendo en un Pentium 4 2.26 (478) con 1024 de RAM y se comporta muy muy bien, no me imagino como debe ser en un 980X...

Conm respecto al office difieron de los anteriores comentarios, pues al Open Office 3, tiene los suyo pero le falta demasiado para llegar a un office 2007 por ejemplo, claro esta es solo mi opinión, del resto excelente ....

el audio de Ubuntu no tiene padrote cuando usas el QMMP el sonido es brutal, pareciece que usa el cristalizer de Creative, de verdad me parece, ojo esto es con un chip Cmedia 9761A 5.1 integrado de sonido....

yo tengo instalado ubuntu 10.10 y todavia estoy buscando un reproductor de musica, lo tengo solo por internet y para descargar en windows me descarga a velocidades de 100-80 mientras que ubuntu me descarga 120-180

Reproductores hay varios los que me vienen a la mente son amarok (para kde) y xmms (tipo winamp) pero estoy segurisimo que hay muchos mas

buscare ese xmms, hoy le desintale un poco de cosas que no utilizo, y un amigo me explico como usar el ubuntu tweak, por cierto, como hago para iniciar sesion, en windows mientras estoy en ubuntu?

Mmmm iniciar sesión en windows desde Ubuntu, bueno el unico metodo que conosco es Usar Una Maquina Virtual, tales Como VirtualBox, te recomiendo esta ya que es Free y de Codigo abierto

Ahh y el UbuntuTweak es bien bueno yo lo use para configurar las carpetas de Usuario con las mismas del Windows

Si te refieres a que tienes dual boot y quieres correr los 2 sistemas al mismo tiempo creo que no es posible, si tienes Ubuntu y quieres correr aplicaciones de windows puedes usar una maquina virtual que es como tener windows dentro de linux, con algunas limitaciones y algo menos de rendimiento ya que tienes 2 sistemas operativos abiertos al mismo tiempo, otra opcion es utilizar programas como wine o cedega, los cuales te permiten correr aplicaciones de windows en linux con mejor rendimiento que un maquina virtual pero también con mas incompatibilidades. Yo particularmente uso wine.

PD: amarok es un muy buen reproductor de musica lo he usado y excelente, pero a mi me alcanza con el Rhythmbox que trae por defecto Ubuntu.
